MMA: UFC TUF 17 Finale-Tate vs ZinganoIt’s been over a year since Cat Zingano arrived on the scene with her signature win over Miesha Tate’s face last April. That fight secured Zingano as the #1 contender and a role as coach on The Ultimate Fighter. As we all know, all that came crashing down when Zingano suffered a knee injury just days before filming of TUF began.

Now back to training and rehabbing her knee, Zingano believed she would be next in line for the winner of Ronda Rousey vs. Alexis Davis. Accoridng to Dana White, that’s not so. “Cat Zingano is still number 1 contender, but she will probably fight again before getting Rousey or Alexis Davis,” White said after UFC 173.

The Rousey/Davis fight is scheduled for July 5 in Las Vegas. Zingano’s timeltable is unclear, although we’ve heard rumblings that perhaps a late summer return could be possible. Sarah Kaufman has been talking about wanting to fight Cat, so that could be a good idea. A win over the tough Kaufman could slide Zingano right back into the title picture.

I can’t wait to hear what The Juice thinks about this.
